Comisión UE nombra a portugués director general adjunto para Latinoamérica
La Comisión Europea (CE) anunció hoy el nombramiento del portugués João Aguiar Machado como nuevo director general adjunto para América Latina y Asia, además de otros nombramientos de alto nivel en el Ejecutivo comunitario.
Machado será uno de los tres directores generales adjuntos bajo la autoridad del español Eneko Landaburu, director general de Relaciones Exteriores en la CE.
El puesto de director general adjunto era ocupado hasta ahora, de manera provisional, por el director para América Latina, el también español Tomás Duplá del Moral, quien compaginaba ambos cargos.
La CE también nombró director general adjunto para las Relaciones con el Este de Europa, sur del Cáucaso, Asia central, Oriente Medio y los países mediterráneos del sur al francés Hugues Mingarelli, que hasta ahora ocupaba el cargo sólo de forma interina.
También se anunció el nombramiento de una nueva directora general adjunta de política regional, Katarína Mathernová, la primera mujer eslovaca que accede a un puesto de este nivel en la CE.
Mathernová se encargará de coordinar las relaciones entre la Comisión Europea y las autoridades de los Estados Miembros y sus regiones.
El nuevo director general adjunto para la Sociedad de la información será el finlandés Antti Peltomäki.
También se nombró hoy a la nueva directora general adjunta de Salud y Protección de los consumidores, que será la italiana Paola Testori-Coggi, y gestionará la política de seguridad alimentaria y en especial la sanidad animal y el proceso de manufacturación de los alimentos que consumimos.
El nuevo director de la Oficina de selección de personal (EPSO) será el británico Nicholas David Bearfield.
